Meet the Team - Robert Moore

When did you start with DMI and what did you know about the company beforehand?

I have been here just over two years. I knew of DMI as I had an association with the previous owner, who I used for subcontract work in the Fire & Security Industry with my previous company. I also knew a few of their managers and engineers before I came on board.

Could you please describe your role and responsibilities at DMI?

My role as Operations Director is to cover all aspects of the business. I am fully responsible for the day-to-day running of the Operations Department, with a particular emphasis on sales and business development. I, along with the other Directors, make sure the business grows by way of developing new clients whilst maintaining our existing customer base.

What are your ambitions for the future of DMI as an organisation?

I want to see the continued growth year on year to a manageable and settled number, retain the great team already on board and hopefully add to this. I want DMI’s good reputation to continue.

What’s your best piece of advice for a young person looking to get into your profession?

We are in a fortunate position where we take on apprentices and young graduates, and I always advise them to work hard to develop in the role they are in and look to progress. Always look at their appointment as a fantastic opportunity in life and if they stick in and learn, they will hopefully have a career and job in the fire and security industry.

When you’re not in the office, what do you like doing?

I love fishing and go to various lochs and streams fly fishing for brown trout. I love the challenge of trying to catch these elusive fish by presenting the right type of fly and, in my mind, there is nothing better than when you hook a fish and then release it safely back into the water for future anglers to hopefully catch.
